Holidaymaker who sued after walking into glass door in bikini wins case in serious blow to UK travel industry

Moira Japp, a holidaymaker on holiday in Barbados through a package deal with Virgin Holidays, suffered life threatening cuts after walking into a plate glass door in her bikini. Mrs Japp was fully entitled to the £24,000 she got as compensation for the accident which turned her trip to the Crystal Palace Hotel in Barbados into a nightmare.

Sam Haddad, a very lucky man who won $32 million on the jackpot will not have to share any of it as court dismissed his sisters claim that she was entitled to some of the money. Haddad and a friend won the lottery jackpot in 2008, and after the big win Haddad gave his sister $25,000, but she claims that she contributed $1 towards the ticket and so should therefore be entitled to more money from the win. The judge dismissed the case and Haddads sister was offered no more money.

Feng insisted that his wife must of had an affair to be able to give birth to ‘such an ugly child’, but DNA tests proved that the girl and all of his kids were in fact actually his. After searching for the truth Feng found that his wife had undergone $100,000 worth of plastic surgery, he then sued her for $120,000!

Bruce McLaughlin was accused of sexually abusing 3 out of 4 of his children; when going through a divorce. Social Services founded him not guilty for sexually abusing his twin daughters, but then founded him guilty for the sexual abuse of his two sons. After McLaughlin spent some time in prison the police then realised they hadn’t checked over the tapes and reports properly from the case, he was then founded not guilty and got a huge sum of money compensation.

Usually in a court case the person who won the case gets a huge payout from the person they’re suing, however, this was a very different courtcase. Mr David Oonyu won a case in Pallisa District, but was not told, he was told he has lost the case and that to try and win it he should take it to a court in Mbale. Mr Oonyu ended up making endless trips from Pallisa to Mbale to try and win a case he’d already won but never knew.

Tony Rooke refused to pay his TV license fee as he alleged that the BBC intentionally misrepresented facts about the 9/11 attacks. It is known worldwide that the BBC reported the collapse of the World Trade Centre Building 7 over 20 minutes before it actually happened. However, WTC 7 was not hit by a plane but collapsed at free-fall speed later that day. He showed the BBC footage to the judge with some other evidence and Rooke was found not guilty and was not fined for failure to pay his licensing fee.
